new premises. More over the shelf trolleys needed to fit into a goods service lift measuring 1.10 meters high 1.10 meters deep and 1.30 meters wide. This was achieved on a small quantity order of just 4 trolleys, which were built on our own premises here at Handle-iT.
Pets At Home
Have purchased 23 trolleys so far for 23 different depots. Every time pets @ home open a new store now the trolleys will be ordered from us here at Handle-iT. The 23 trolleys ordered so far were 3 Sided Filled Cage Trolleys with mesh sides in a size of 1000mm x 700mm. The distribution trolleys were also powder coated in the specific shade of green that Pets@ Home use on their logo's etc. The cage trolleys are now being used to move cat and dog food sacks. Now that the contract is in place Pets @ Home will be opening around 4 new stores a year with 4 new trolleys a year! [ posted 6/9/07 ]
Wilts Electrical Wholesalers
Handle-iT look after the Wilts Electrical Group right throughout the UK, at the last count 69 depots. Recently they purchased 30 roll cages with integral shelves to meet their specific needs in wholesale and product stocks. Also 10 one hundred liter shopping trolleys for their central warehousing moving such products as: cable reels, light switches, light fixings etc. They also had 10 custom modified cash and carry trolleys based around the HITC106B stacking cash and carry trolley. They purposes of these items were as follows:

News Retail Services and Associated News
Own the UK's tabloid papers. They came to handle-iT, in various form to have a newspaper vending trolley with a folding footplate and folding side panels. The trolleys had to be nestable / stackable for storage purposes, and have the facility to house a marketing umbrella. Handle-iT designed the perfect trolley for their needs and presented it to them and they purchased altogether 2000 of them! The trolleys can now be seen in use in the city of London where they are used to hand out the London Today and the London Light news papers...... (SORRY)
Thru - Vision
Handle-iT designed and built a trolley for a cylindrical x-ray machine. The trolley needed a dead man breaking system to prevent damage to sensitive electrical equipment. The trolley was designed completely from scratch by our team here at Handle-iT.
SMT Development
Are moving electric pumps from outside the warehouse to the inside. There is no way the pumps can risk getting wet. Also they are very big and bulky and so very awkward to handle. We suggested a massive mumma as it has drop down sides, so if needs be they can drop them down to put the pump inside and raise them to make sure it stays inside. We have also provided a tarpaulin cover that would ensure that the pump would never get wet inside the truck.
Rittal,
Wanted a Bespoke Sack Truck for moving Server Cabinets around the production lines. This sack truck need to have 3 positions so the Cabinet could be lowered so the staff could move and be able to see over the top of it. They also need a ratchet Strap to support the Product on the Sack Truck. They customer also wanted this trolley in their own company colour. This is a very intense production line as Rittal make cabinets for all the major hardware manufacturers, producing hundred of 1800mm plus high cabinets, the cabinet are weighing in at 120kg and the size makes them awkward to handle within the necessary time constraint of the production facility. Handle-iT re-enforce the back struts on appliance trucks with 25mm solid rod, so that they were able to take the abuse.
Big Box Storage Systems
Wanted 25 made to order heavy duty flatbed trolleys 1200mm x 800mm with a wooden base and a metal Handle. This Trolley need to have Wicke1 Wheels and corner bumper on the front to stop the trolley from damaging walls, as these trolley where going into a new premises. The customer also wanted this painted in BS 12E53, which is the corporate Colour. Our Customer need these in a very short time scale. As the customer's staff would be using these, they were to be used by he's customers using the storage facility, then it was important that they were over engineered, so that they would stand the test of time.
Mathew Clark Park Royal.
The customers problems where being caused by not being unable to achieve a constant const stream with expenditure being very erratic depending on the time of year, being a brewery the expenditure was very large around Christmas and the summer period, and for the rest of the year a very slow spend. The customers had an ageing fleet of equipment. They wanted to achieve a constant cash flow situation, having a new fleet of Magliner sack trucks, which by themselves are very expensive.
Handle-iT recognized the benefits of the consistent cash flow, which in any other situation would be nearly impossible to provide, but with a little lateral think we implement a rental agreement, where Matthew Clark rented the equipment over a two year rental period with all part and maintenance include. There were 80 Magliner Keg Trucks (516-U-1010-C5KH), these included a sliding keg hook, puncture proof tyres as well as low friction polymer stair skids making the job a lot easier for their dray men. The sack barrows were all serial numbered, and supplied with the “Matthew Clark Park Royal” livery and telephone number so that they are easily identifiable.
Shop Fitters Direct
Came to us for Shopping Trolleys, these will be going to every Selfridges in the country, the trolleys were very similar to the trolleys you would find in Sainsburys shopping trolley, or tesco shopping baskets, But they wanted the Shopping trolley on wheels in plastic and the handles in black so that they were branded to the selfridges requirements. They also wanted these shopping trolleys to be 60ltrs, which are the shallow type trolleys that you would see in Morrissson and Asda
A church had problems with all of the toys that they used for the children’s play group. They couldn’t store them and needed to move them out of the way! So they purchased a roll cage that would fit through doors and had a half hinging side so all of the toys wouldn’t fall out and hurt any of the children once it was opened. They brought two and they were the perfect solution for their unholy mess!!
Aquafactors Direct –
Came to Handle-iT as a word of mouth recommendation, as they heard we were experts in designing trolley aided solutions. Aquafactors wanted to mount a 700kg IBC and pump automatic pump unit, and keep it mobile.
We used the basic HIT1000 Turntable trolley with a steering lock and hand applied parking brake so the trolley would remain static which the IBC and pump unit did there thing. The steering lock provided additional stability to the unit as the constant movement of liquids sometime can cause instability to some trolley with the load center constantly fluctuating.
Toyota Material Handling & Constellation Europe
Handle-iT We commissioned by Peter Walker Senior Nation Accounts Manager at Toyota Material Handling to help with the waste control and segregation at Constellation Europe’s New £30 million manufacturing and distribution center in Avonmouth. Constellation Europe, part of The Constellation Group, are the worlds largest wine merchant, with an amazing 86% share in the new world wines market in the USA. Handle-iT Manufactured 80 tailor made waste retrieval trolley cages with stable doors on the front face to enable safe secure transport of waste cardboard, and to ensure safe full loading we design an ingenious gas strutted lid. As all these units were based on a contract hire all of the trolleys were data plated with serial numbers for ease of identification. Supplied with Gray non-marking wheels so as not to damage the floor in the new building and tow hitches so that the waste can be collected in a train quickly and easily increasing the productivity dramatically.
Associated British Ports
Handle-iT Supplied 1500 Aluminium Airport Trolley (HITC0206) in April to ABP for the Docking of the Oceania super cruise liner which docked into Southampton off its first commercial landing. The Trolleys to aid the client luggage to be offloaded, this job was left fairly last minute, however Handle-iT turned the thumb screws and achieved delivery with a week in hand. 1500 Luggage trolleys all together 7 x 40ft Shipping containers all together supplied with Deadman brake.
Butlins / Bourne Leisure
Hi-Dee-Hi Campers................. if the call you hear as Butlins to 250 HITC0206 Nesting Airport Trolleys into stock to help their customers take their luggage to their chalets, these were to be taken into split deliveries to Skegness and Bognor Regis. the European Standard Stacking trolley were marked as requested by Butlins, and are currently working flat-out for the summer period

Tesco's Direct
Tesco's Direct asked Handle-iT to produce a specific 4 sided cage trolley customized to the Tesco Distribution chain, these Four sided Cage Trolleys needed to be millimeter perfect to ensure the correct loading capacities, and have a removable side to help with the stooping issues some time involved with many standard fixed sided trolleys. These were so successful the with 14 days of the first units being on site, another order was received for the next batch.
Cornwall County Records Office.
Handle-iT was commissioned by Cornwall County Council, to produce a trolley for moving 600mm x 400mm stack and nest boxes of county records. The original brief was that they just wanted an airport trolley........... 12 month of design stage later The County Records Office took receipt of a Two Tier Trolley with Mesh Baskets, and Dead Man Braking Facility. The customer stipulated that they wanted the trolley to be on three wheels rather than four, ins a common misconception that this will allow the trolley to turn in a tighter circle, not the case, but we are here to provide what our customers want. This did create some stability issues which were rectified by adding two extra support wheels.
Fulham Football Club
Every home game Fulham FC have to move the crowd control bollards out from their store area to the streets, there’s enough happening every Saturday without this laborious task consuming more of the stewards time. Handle-iT provide 4 made to order adjustable double side trolleys, which were made around the size or the bollards. The trolleys could take six bollards at a time drastically reducing the man hours, and seriously increasing the health and safety behind this task.
Mercedes-Benz HPE
Mercedes-Benz HPE......... High Performance Engines, the test and manufacturing facility for the Mercedes F1 team, have been buying the same "High Performance Dolly" for moving multi million pound engines, one of these dollys fail and it could be a very expensive problem. for the last three years handling has manufactured these dollys for Mercedes and it testament to the quality of manufacture that they keep coming back for more. The dolly made from single piece steel ensure that strength of the units over a very long life.
Nuvia Ltd / Sellafield Nuclear Power Station
We were approached to manufacture a turntable trolley for the movement of hazardous material on site at Sellafield, by Nuvia Ltd Head Design Engineer, Mike Rolls. The stipulation was that the trolley should work with a dead man braking system, this on a standard flatbed trolley would not normally be a problem, but we had never even heard of a Dead Man Brake on a turn table trolley before. After a few hours of head scratch our engineering team came up with the solution.
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust
The Salford NHS Trust as with most hospital have the job of transporting theatre gas around site. These bottle are not only heavy, but also awkward. As with all hospital, their site is spread over a vast site. The more that can be carried in one go the more efficient the process becomes. Handle-iT devised a turntable trolley capable of carrying up to half a ton of gas bottle in various shapes and sizes. This trolley is capable of either being towed by hand or by seat tow tug, with a total of 30 + bottle being carried safely at any one time. To add to the safety features, Handle-iT fitted an emergency safety brake, and 400mm diameter polyurethane tyre......... the only company in the country capable of fitting these wheels.
Oil Equipment Procurement Services (Texas)
Many of our customers are unaware of many of the facilities and services we provide as a company. Well to be fair to the marketing department we will provide whatever the customer asks for. On this occasion Handle-iT designed and manufactured a new style gas cylinder trolley, drum moving sack trucks for 210ltr oil drums, a vertical drum clamp, an ergo handle sack truck and gas cylinder cradle for export. Our client Oil Equipment Procurement Services purchased the equipment for export to Nigeria, and after the manufacture Handle-iT had to provide all of the export packaging so that the equipment could be exported without damage. We constructed 4 timber crates which were treated and fumigated, the crates measuring 1200mm x 1000mm x 2200mm so that they would fit snugly in an export sea freight container, reducing the shipping cost substantially as we were given authority to pack into 6 crates. This saved a whopping 33% of the shipping cost.

CDS the Range one of the UK's largest retailers in home and garden, opened yet another store this month, as we have for the last 8 years we supplied the HITC106B Stacking Cash and Carry trolleys in to the new store. BP Caspian Limited
Handle-iT were asked by BP, to produce in a very short time scale three turntable trolleys, with plastic base and side panel kits as well as puncture proof tyres, we had a week to make the three turn table trolleys prior to them being shipped to Azerbaijan to work on the drill field. This wasn't just any old plastic sides and plastic based, we it would be as we are the only people to produce them. But these things were 2000mm long x 1500mm wide. That’s some big Trolley.
