Cash and Carry Trolleys

Cash and Carry trolleys are robust, flatbed carts designed to move heavy, bulky items.  In the wholesale and Cash and Carry industry, efficiency, durability and design matters.  The standout product for these sites and the essential tool is the Cash and Carry Trolley, used by customers to pick bulky items whilst shopping.  Most people might be familiar with all metal or plastic variants; we want to demonstrate and promote our Cash and Carry Trolleys with a wooden base.

Why a wooden base?

  1. Durability – Hardwood is an extremely resilient material, our 18mm Weather Proof and Boil Proof Ply can withstand heavy loads and rough use without denting or braking ensuring a professional look for longer period.
  2. Repairability – Unlike sheet metal bases that can dent and rust, wire bases where welds break and create sharps and also rust or plastic ones that can crack or break, wooden bases can be repaired or replaced in an affordable fashion without skilled staff.  A damaged board can be swapped out without replacing the entire trolley.
  3. Noise reduction – Wood absorbs vibrations better than metal meaning quieter operation on concrete.
  4. Easy Maintenance - To refurbish wooden bases, it is as simple as unscrewing the base and whipping over it with a sander.

A Spring Loaded Base – Used to aid stacking but also providing a higher base height which helps with loading of goods and to keep them in place at a sensible height.  This also allows the trolleys to effectively stack or nest together.  In our case just a stacking distance of 300mm to ensure plenty of room on the cover for the trolleys to be stored.

Let’s talk about the wheels…200mm Black Crumb Rubber Castors.  Ideal for the warehouse flooring and the 2 Fixed and 2 Swivel wheel configuration allows the user the easiest control.  2 front fixed castors allow minimal effort of the user and no need to push on to the handlebar to control as you will note on a supermarket trolley.  (By the end of the shop with your trolley full you will notice that the trolley often has a mind of its own).

Our castors are fitted by 4 bolts, through European Standard Sized Fixing Plates making sourcing and changing the castor easy when required.  As a wearing part of any trolley we need this process to be pain free to manage to again allow the trolley to live many years past the warranty by having parts on the shelf that can be replaced quickly and efficiently.

Finished as standard in our RAL5010 in epoxy powder coating giving a scratch resistant finish.  This process produces a thicker coating of paint across the trolley meaning that they will last long after the warranty with heavy use.

With an optional ‘bottle’ basket to carry the smaller, loose items this basket is reinforced around the rim with tube and a solid steel bar to ensure longevity.  The basket can be removed from the trolley or fitted as required.  As an additional component, even when your bottle basket is dented beyond recognition, four bolts removed will allow you to replace the basket also meaning that it is one less trolley to throw away.

Another optional extra are Coin locks which are available for these trolleys which can be branded to suit your environment.  Coin locks add responsibility to the customer to replace the trolley in the required area meaning that your site is tidy but also that you avoid scattered trolleys and minimising additional staff and cost for the collection of trolleys.

Handle-iT takes it’s service element seriously and we offer maintenance checklists to further elongate the life span of the trolleys.  You don’t have to be an expert in trolleys to follow our simple guides.
