As a business owner, director, manager or employee you each have a responsibility under the LOLER and PUWER health and safety regulations. But do you really know the difference?
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) places duties on people and companies who own, operate or have control over lifting equipment.
Whereas, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) places duties on people and companies who own, operate or have control over all work equipment.
Have you ever had hand pallet trucks inspected under LOLER?
If so, you are probably wasting money!
Why? Because pallet trucks are considered by the Health and Safety Executive to be low level lifters, and therefore don't fall within the remit of LOLER. However, all your work equipment including pallet trucks, trolleys, sack trucks, sack barrows and dollies falls within the remit of PUWER.
The good news is that an inspection under the PUWER regulations can be performed by a competent person within your organisation, and as a leader in manual handling, Handle-iT wants to help by providing free advice. No obligation, no signing up and no hidden agenda.
