When Ocado approached us with a specialized requirement for a trolley, we knew we were in for an exciting project. The task was to create a trolley that could carry a ladder and specific tools, and after careful consideration of their needs, we got to work on creating a bespoke design.
Custom Trolley Solution for Ocado - Tailored to their Unique Requirements
Centrality was a key aspect of the ladder positioning, and we placed it at the centre of the trolley for stability and ease of use. The ladder cavity was fitted with an Aluminium Chequered Plate, not only for its aesthetic appeal, but also to prevent the ladder from slipping. We also added braces to one side of the cavity and an open side for quick and easy ladder removal and replacement. A quick-release strapping mechanism was incorporated to keep the ladder securely in place.
Laser-Cut Shelves for Efficient Tool Management
We laser cut the shelves to accommodate the customer's specific tools, including spirit levels of varying lengths. The holes in the shelves were precisely cut to fit the tools, ensuring that they were secure and easily accessible at all times.
Enhanced Mobility with Nylon Wheels and Polyurethane Tyres
For the trolley's mobility, we fitted it with 160mm Nylon wheels and a Bonded Polyurethane Tyre, which was suitable for a range of uses. The polyurethane tyre provided a rubberized layer, giving the trolley a smooth ride and reducing sound during movement. The non-marking properties of the polyurethane ensured that the trolley wouldn't leave marks on clean, polished floors.
Reduced Vibration and Noise for Optimal Performance
To reduce vibrations and maintain stability during movement, all trays were bolted or welded in place. We also added a 15mm noise-damping foam infill to the laptop stand, further reducing any unwanted noise.
Sleek and Durable Finish
Finally, we opted for a crisp, corporate finish of RAL2009 to complete the project, which not only looked great but also added to the durability of the trolley.
