Picking, Box and Tote Pan Trolleys
Returnable Trip Packaging (RTP) has become an integral part of professional manufacturing and distribution cycles over the last 20 years. initially conceved as an internal milk round delivery item, these totes are now in every element of the supply chain. Whether totes are being used in the Kan Ban process, used in the picking process, flying around conveyors in the sorting process, or even delivering you online home shopping order directly to your door. The totes increase storage capacities, reduce damages, help segregation, and reduce waste, so many benefits is there a down side.
Well, competition is now rife in the plastic box market, manufacture is so prevalent we even make them in the UK, I know…... However this can cause issues when looking to minimise handling of the tote, different manufacturers use different mould tools, which means although stacking boxes are the same sizes through out the manufacturing, the style of the box mould varies significantly.
Handle-iT has a vast array of experience even in the packaging and returnable trip packaging sector, so we are well placed, with suitable knowledge to help understand how these RTP Stacking boxes can also really assist in increasing productivity, reduce waste and product damages, and also ultimately of course reduce injuries, and increase safety.
Our range of Picking carts, Tote storage and distribution trolleys & carts are focused on ensuring maximum volumes and throughput, maximize efficiency gains, by reducing fatigues, and time lost areas, small changes like a document pouch, a waste bin, minimal wasted space and maximum ergonomic potential, increase productivity particularly on the back end of long busy pick shifts.
With one case study with a customer in 2012 we increased pick rates by 48% over a busy Christmas picking period, reducing temporary staffing requirements by 52%, reducing pick error by 18% all from only 68% of the trolleys that the customer initially wanted......... yes we talked the customer into 34 picking carts rather than the 50 trolleys they initially wanted, and the solutions aren't technical, sophisticated, nor expensive, in fact much is just over looked common sense, which when viewed with fresh eyes seems quite obvious.
